Pre-Mission 2k19

After a long night of travel, we finally arrived in Lima, Peru on March 30th 2019! Hopped aboard our large coach bus and headed off to our hotel, Residencial Carlos. Here, we were able to unpack, unwind, and be horizontal for a few hours before heading out for our first adventure of the day: Brunch! We went our favorite brunch spot, El Hawaiano where they serve lots of classic Peruvian dishes like ceviche and Pisco sours - and it’s bottomless food! (Ideal for our teammate, Steve - he can put away some serious food 😉)

After eating 3-4 plates of food each, we ventured off to our second stop of the day: Miraflores! Our favorite Inca markets are here and they have perfect spots to grab souvenirs for our friends and family back home.

After spending about 1 hour shopping the streets of Miraflores, we made our way back to the bus for our next destination: LA PLAYA!!!! One of our all time favorite to-dos while in Lima. The weather was perfect, the sun was out, and the water was actually comfortably warm. A few dream teamers played beach volleyball with the locals (including Dr. Mary - she was a ROCKSTAR), some people put their feet in the water and some adventurous souls went full blown swimming!

We spent about 2 hours at the beach soaking up the sun before heading back to the Hotel to get ready for dinner. We had an amazing 3-course meal at Huaca Pucllana, a restaurant we call “the ruins” because it’s situated on several clay pyramids dating back several hundred years!

Though the day was long, it was wonderful getting to know all of our team mates as well as the local area we serve. We can’t wait to meet our patients tomorrow!

One dream. One team.
